SME 2008 - Seminar Programme
Addressing the twin pillars of strategic direction and operational objectives, the two-stream programme will be structured to examine the key issues affecting the industry and to share the real-business experience of implementing new technology and working processes. Theatre 1 – Strategic Service - Creating a Successful Service Strategy
Day 1 Highlights include
- Adrian Cooper of a&o systems. Speaking on working without boundaries, his presentation looks at how to maximise people’s potential in the service environment
- Robin Spencer of BAFLOW, advising on how to create a safer working environment for lone workers
- Paul Brownridge, providing his view on how to reduce risk and increase ROI when implementing mobile solutions
Day 2 Highlights include
- Michael Heslop of Centrex Computing Services explaining how the application of lean service can improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
- Connell Graham will then provide two case study examples of companies that have won back valuable service contracts and enjoyed increased profit as a result
- Harvey’s Furniture Store will describe how it has reduced warranty costs with mobile technology, additionally making its delivery chain more efficient
Theatre 2 – Operational Service - Managing a Mobile Field Operation
Day 1 Highlights include
- Ian Bryce, Business Systems Director at Morrison Facilities Services relates how a mobile application has increased productivity within his company
- Catherine Robinson, RAC General Manager of commercial assistance, explaining how its network of sub-contract engineers are managed to maintain an effective service offering
- Chris Halliday of Peterborough City Council will also explain how the council’s maintenance department has maximised efficiency through a real time mobile workforce management solution
Day 2 Highlights include
- Paul Booth, Operations Director – services for Lorne Stewart will explain how his company has used its mobile workforce management solution to allow customers to check job status on line in real time and raise its service levels
- Lawrence Gardner, ICT Manager of Wrekin Housing Trust, will speak on culture change within his organisation which has led to the outsourcing of its stores management and implementation of a sophisticated mobile working solution

The Association of Field Service Managers will explore the fascinating subject of Customer Interaction Management. The subject will be divided into three main areas to provide indepth coverage. These will be under the headings of Call Logging, Call Resolution and Team Motivation. These will be presented by three individual speakers, explaining best practice solutions and sharing their various experiences with delegates.
